IDTechEx is an industry analyst, consulting and events company focusing on printed electronics, RFID, photovoltaics, energy harvesting and electric vehicles. IDTechEx seeks a full time VP Sales of Research and Consulting, to manage and lead the research and consulting sales effort at IDTechEx. This is a superb opportunity for a successful, strongly-motivated sales person to take a key role in growing this successful company. The primary functions will be to manage and scale our sales activities and to sell our research and consulting services. Event sales experience would be desirable but not necessary.
 
IDTechEx has offices in Cambridge UK, Boston USA and Dresden Germany. The twelve year old company employs 25 staff globally and has built an excellent global reputation, winning the Queen's Award for International Trade. IDTechEx has been profitable each year since its founding and now seeks to continue its rapid growth with the recruitment of an experienced business to business sales professional. Key responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage and grow a global sales team selling research and consultancy across all the technology sectors we are involved with
  • Identify new prospects and clients, and execute a sales plan that you help to develop
  • Focus on high ticket consulting and bespoke research sales to key accounts that you create
  • Develop relationships and close sales in the near term in addition to developing relations for longer term prospects
  • Oversee management of the US office (three people) on a day to day basis
  • Help plan and execute new ventures and products
  • Achieve or exceed targets that you help to design

We are looking for the following qualities:

  • Proven and distinguished sales record, particularly in technical consulting sales and market research report sales
  • Proven sales record in new business development and account creation and management
  • Demonstrated ability to reach and sell to a high level in client companies
  • Proven record and experience in managing and growing a team of sales people, preferably globally
  • Ability to analyze customer needs and create proposals and close sales
  • Ability to pick up technical topics to a necessary level to sell consulting and research services on these topics
  • Excellent inter-personal skills, well connected, team-player, motivates staff
  •  
    The candidate can be based in the U.S.A (or Germany or the UK but these are less desirable). Geographic location is flexible in these countries but preference will be given to candidates who can work in our Boston office (USA). Those with experience selling technology market research/consulting/events from companies such as Ovum, BCG, IDC, Gartner, Forrester Research, Frost & Sullivan etc is strongly preferred.
     
    Pay is a base salary plus commission plus potential shareholding.
