Speaker BiographyBorn in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Bachelors and PhD in Theoretical and Physical Chemistry at University of Leiden , The Netherlands.1984 Joined the Philips Research Laboratories in 1984, worked on high resolution photolithography and plasma etching. 1990 Department head of the group 'Polymers and Organic Chemistry' Headed Polymer Led activities since 1991. The success of this work lead in 1998 to the creation of a new business with a manufacturing line: Philips Components, PolyLED. After a half a year as general manager a.i., continued his work as innovation manager and CTO for Emerging Displays in this new business, situated in Heerlen, The Netherlands. Joined Vitex in San Jose as of March 1 2002 , as Chief Technology Officer. Company ProfileVitex Systems, Inc., headquartered in San Jose, Calif., licenses a proprietary encapsulation solution, Barix™, as well as deposition systems and next-generation flexible barrier substrates, that enable the cost-effective production of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays that are lighter and thinner than any other commercially available displays. Vitex's technology can also be used to address a wide array of photovoltaic and optoelectronic applications. The company was incubated at Battelle, the world's largest independent private non-profit research foundation, and was spun off as an independent company.
