DR. JOHN WEBB, BSc PhD FIBiol CBiol
 
Dr. John Webb is Director of Genetics and Science at Maple Leaf Foods Inc., Canada's largest food processor and food exporter, with responsibility for bringing new science into the protein value chain. From 1986 until 2001 Dr. Webb was an executive director responsible for scientific innovation with the Cotswold Pig Development Company Ltd in UK, a leading international pig breeding company. From 1973 until 1986 Dr. Webb was responsible for genetic research in pigs at the former Animal Breeding Research Organization in Edinburgh (now the Roslin Institute).
 
Dr. Webb holds a PhD in animal genetics from Edinburgh. He was awarded the British Society of Animal Production Sir John Hammond Prize (1989), and the David Black Award for services to the UK pig industry (1993). His research gained the Queen's Award for Technological Achievement (1992), and the Royal Agricultural Society of England Technology Award for turning science into practice (1994).
