Speaker Biography (Beng Ong)

Professor Beng Ong is Program Director of Polymer & Molecular Electronics and Devices for Science & Engineering Research Council (SERC), Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*Star), and Director in Executive Director's Office at Institute of Materials Research & Engineering (IMRE), Singapore. Concurrently, he is also a Nanyang Professor at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, an Adjunct Professor at McMaster University and University of Waterloo. Canada, a Fellow/Visiting Professor at Shanghai JiaoTong University as well as an Honorary Professor at East China University of Science and Technology in Shanghai. Prior to his relocation to Singapore in mid-2007, Professor Ong was a Senior Fellow of Xerox Corporation, and Manager of Advanced Materials and Printed Electronics at Xerox Research Centre of Canada. Professor Ong currently has a patent portfolio of 187 US patents and about 100 refereed papers on enabling materials, processes, and integration technologies. He was named to the prestigious Scientific American Top-50 as the Business Leader in Chemicals and Materials in 2004. Many of the technology programs that he managed at Xerox have won coveted awards including Nano-50 Awards for Materials Innovation (2007) and Nanotechnology Commercialization (2007), ACS Innovation Award (2006), Connecticut Quality Improvement Gold Award (2006), and Wall Street Journal Technology Innovation Runner-up Award (2005)
