Speaker Biography (Jacek Jasieniak)Jacek Jasieniak completed his PhD in 2008 at the University of Melbourne in the area of solution processed quantum dot lasers. He then joined CSIRO where he initiated work on nanostructured solar cells using inorganic nanoparticles. His team developed a simple (and scalable) process for making high-efficiency, multi-layer devices. He is currently serving a secondiment, enabled by both the Fulbright and the Australian Solar Institute Fellowship schemes, at the University of California Santa Barbara under Nobel Prize winner Prof. Alan Heeger, where he working towards developing solution processed tandem solar cells. Company Profile (CSIRO)The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) is an Australian based science and research agency, employing 6,500 staff members at more than 50 sites, Australia wide and overseas. CSIRO's expertise is organised into 16 divisions with topics of national challenge or opportunities are handled in Flagship programmes. The projects are usually funded by the government as well as from industry. The focus of CSIRO is in delivering great science and innovative solutions for academia, industry, society and the environment. |
