Emma Kendrick is an energy storage specialist at Sharp Laboratories Europe (SLE), Oxford UK. After an undergraduate degree at Manchester in Chemistry she obtained a MSc and PhD in solid state materials at the University of Aberdeen and Keele University respectively. She has been working in the field of energy materials for several years was lead scientist for a lithium ion battery company in the UK. Dr Kendrick joined the health and energies technology team at SLE in October 2010 and is investigating new energy storage technologies for home energy management solutions.

Sharp Corporation of Japan has been a leading producer of photovoltaic panels for over fifty years. Its European research arm, Sharp Laboratories of Europe, is well known for its ground breaking research in no glasses 3D displays, blue lasers, language technology and high efficiency PV cells. The laboratory was founded in 1990 and has over 100 scientists and engineers on its Oxford Science Park site. A major research theme at the laboratory is the use of photovoltaics in novel energy solutions.
