RFID and the usage of sensors in combination with ICT can be an effective way for companies as well as the government to both save and make money. Edwin Kalischnig, Oracle's Director of Business Development for RFID and Sensor-Based Services in Europe, Middle East & Africa, will give a clear exposition of the technology and key business solutions. He will use a number of illustrative examples from different industries with significant opportunities but also discuss the impact of it. The information explosion that will result from the introduction of these technologies will push the requirements for the IT systems behind it to the extremes.

Edwin Kalischnig is the Director of Business Development for Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and Sensor-Based Services initiatives in the EMEA Region.
 
In this role, he is responsible for driving the Oracle license and consulting business with respect to RFID related opportunities on behalf of Oracle Corporation. This emerging technology, also referred to as the "next generation bar-code", will have significant impact on most business processes in almost all industries as well as on the underlying IT infrastructures. Through his role and involvement in Oracle's HQ RFID Development Team, he is co-responsible for ensuring that RFID is embedded in the organization through product development, business development, partner alliances, marketing and delivery.
 
Mr Kalischnig has worked for Oracle in both License Sales and Consulting, previously as the Global Account Director for Royal Philips Electronics and prior to that as Business Consultant and eBusiness Advisor.
 
Mr. Kalischnig joined Oracle in August 1998 from Royal Philips Electronics, where he held various Techno-Commercial Management roles in the Semiconductor and Components divisions.
 
Mr. Kalischnig holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Bradford (UK) and a Bachelors Degree in Precision Engineering Technologies.
