H.C. Starck Clevios
Germany

This presentation was given at Printed Electronics Asia 2009 on Oct 01, 2009.

Presentation Summary

  • PEDOT is ready to replace indium tin oxide: high conductive PEDOT-grade with 1000 S/cm is commercially available
  • Progress on printing: Inks for fine line silk screen printing and ink jet
  • Learning from nature: Self assembled semiconductor monolayers from oligothiophenes

Speaker Biography (Stephan Kirchmeyer)

Stephan Kirchmeyer was born in 1957 in Empelde near Hannover, Germany. From 1978 to 1984 he studied chemistry at the University of Hamburg and at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, where he joined the group of George Olah for one year. He finished his Ph.D. thesis in 1987 in Hamburg in the group of Armin deMeijere with a study on strained multicyclic hydrocarbons. After his thesis he went to San Jose/USA for a postdoctoral fellowship and worked with IBM on photo initiated rearrangements. He joined Bayer AG in 1988. From 1988 to 1997 he headed laboratories in Bayer's Central R&D and silicone division. 1997 he transferred to the electronic chemicals group and developed the conductive polymer PEDOT. In 2002 the business of electronic materials was transferred to H.C. Starck GmbH, at that time an affiliate company of Bayer. For H.C. Starck he worked subsequently as R&D manager, plant site manager and until recently as global business manager. Since March 2009 he holds a position as a manager for operations and technology at H.C. Starck Clevios GmbH, a daughter company of H.C. Starck focusing on the conductive polymer PEDOT.
