Presentation Summary

  • The idea of the photoaligned optically rewritable (ORW) liquid crystal green E-paper to write, store and rewrite again the information generated by computer on a glass or flexible carrier is proposed.
  • The configuration of the light printer for writing/erasing E-paper images is elaborated.
  • The displays based on ORW E-paper without current conducting layers and electronic drivers for price labels, plastic card displays, and E-advertisements are demonstrated.

Speaker Biography (Vladimir G Chigrinov)

Professor Chigrinov joined HKUST in Hong Kong in 1999, and become a full Professor in 2008. He is a coauthor of a pioneering work in Liquid Crystal Photoaligning Technology, which has about 600 citations in scientific and technical journals. He is a Senior Member of the Society of Information Display (SID) since 2004, SID Fellow since 2008. He is an author of 4 books, 15 reviews and book chapters, about 160 journal papers, more than 360 Conference presentations and 60 patents and patent applications in the field of liquid crystals since 1974.
