Presentation Summary

  • The performance requirements of a printable active matrix OLED display backplane;
  • The development of OTFT devices with the high mobility and low contact resistance needed to drive OLEDs;
  • A new universal OTFT compact SPICE model, enabling the design of an all-printed backplane.

Speaker Biography (Euan Smith)

Dr Euan Smith an OLED displays technologist who leads the Advanced System Development group at CDT, concentrating on display system operation and performance and display driving methodologies and technologies. He is the author or co-author of more than 40 patents and patent applications in OLED and related fields over the eight years he has been with the company.

Company Profile (Cambridge Display Technology (CDT))

Cambridge Display Technology, a subsidiary of Sumitomo Chemical, leads the development of display technology based on solution processable organic light emitting diodes (P-OLEDs). P-OLEDs offer superior performance characteristics to other display technologies, such as liquid crystal displays, in many applications.
P-OLEDs are already in commercial use, and are expected to be used in mobile applications, televisions and lighting. CDT owns key intellectual property around P-OLED materials, devices and processes, such as inkjet printing, which are used in the manufacture of P-OLED displays.
