Speaker Biography (Troy D Hammond)

Dr. Hammond joined Plextronics from McKinsey & Co., the global strategy consulting firm, where he was an Associate Principal. With McKinsey, Dr. Hammond led a broad spectrum of strategy, operations, sales & marketing, and risk management engagements for senior executive clients in the industrial, consumer products, and financial sectors. While based primarily in the U.S., his client service extended to the Asia-Pacific region while he helped build the Auckland, New Zealand office. Prior to joining McKinsey, Dr. Hammond conducted experimental atomic physics research at MIT. His research group made fundamental breakthroughs in the field of atom interferometry, which is useful as an extremely sensitive measuring device for navigation, exploration, and the study of fundamental physical properties. The group's research was highlighted in the popular science press including Nature, Discover, Science News and The New York Times. Dr. Hammond holds the Ph.D. degree in physics from MIT, a B.S. in physics from Georgia Tech, and a B.S. in mathematics from Milligan College where he is also Adjunct Professor of Business in the MBA program.
