Speaker Biography (Ross Bringans)Dr. Ross Bringans is vice president and director of the Electronic Materials and Devices Laboratory research organization at PARC, a Xerox company. His organization focuses on novel printed, flexible, organic, and large-area electronics for various applications; micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS); optoelectronic systems; and other activities. The infrastructure within the organization includes both silicon and optoelectronic fabrication lines for prototype devices. Elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society (1993), Bringans has authored or co-authored 140 articles published in scientific and technical journals and has 25 issued patents. Upon joining PARC, he worked on the structure of semiconductor surfaces and the interfaces formed when devices are fabricated. Prior to PARC, he carried out research at the Max-Planck-Institute for Semiconductor Research (in Stuttgart, Germany) where he was a Humboldt Fellow, as well as at Stanford University. Bringans completed a Ph.D. in Physics at Cambridge University for work on the optical properties of semiconductor materials, and M.S., B.S. (Hons) and B.S. degrees in Physics from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. Company Profile (PARC, a Xerox company)A premier center for commercial innovation, PARC, a Xerox company, is in the business of breakthroughs. We work closely with global enterprises, entrepreneurs, government agencies and partners, and other clients to invent, co-develop, and bring to market game-changing innovations by combining imagination, investigation, and return on investment for our clients.
