Montgomery Gisborne is a "techno-environmentalist", believing that we can enjoy recreational pursuits in environmentally-sensitive areas without leaving a footprint. He has built a number of electric vehicles of varied description, including cars, snowmobiles and boats. Tamarack was formed to push the leading edge of electric propulsion to lessen our impact while enjoying our natural settings.

A vessel that leaves no mark on the water other than the gentle wake that trails behind. Recreational boating enjoyed without environmental repercussions, this is the philosophy behind the Tamarack Lake Electric Boat Company and vision of company founder, Montgomery Gisborne. Founded in 2005, the passion and innovation of the Tamarack Lake Electric Boat Company (Tamarack) is driven by Montgomery Gisborne, the company's owner whose environmental vision spans over 20 years of electric vehicle development and competition, and includes the Sk-E-Doo, the worlds first practical electric sled. After the progressive development of his subsequent project, the combination solar garden tractor and snowblower, plans were put into motion for the latest innovation, the Loon. Complemented by a pair of accomplished designers, Jason Hill and Nathan Armstrong, whose previous work includes the Smart car, the Aptera electric car (www.aptera.com) and the Icon A5 sport plane, the team is balanced by the development knowledge and entrepreneurial aptitude of Ray Hirani, Vice President.
 
Tamarack is revolutionizing the boating industry with the Loon, the only commercially-available solar powered electric boat on the market. Already sold in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Belize, the Loon is a stylishly innovative boat powered by photovoltaic cells that exceeds all other electric boats available on the market.
 
Benefits of the Loon are reflected in the competitive price and economy of operation and complete lack of emissions. Pollutants and toxins that result from conventional recreational boating are having severe implications on the ecosystem. As noted in boat builder and author Andre Mele's book "Polluting for Pleasure", oil and hydrocarbon pollution caused by recreational boating is equivalent to 15 Exxon Valdez spills per year.
