Norman Cheesman is Director of Can-Trace, a position he has held since April 2004. A strategic thinker and strong communicator, Norman has over 25 years experience in government and media relations, public policy development, consensus building and trade association management in a number of industry sectors. Norman has served in senior staff roles with GS1 Canada, a not-for-profit organization committed to fostering the continuous development and adoption of global standards, the Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC) and the Canadian Alarm and Security Association (CANASA). He is also a co-founder and past President of the Public Affairs Association of Canada. Norman has an Honour's B.A. from the University of Toronto and an M.B.A. from the University of Western Ontario. Company Profile
Can-Trace is an industry-led national initiative established in the summer of 2003 for establishing a voluntary data standard for food traceability in Canada. Participation includes representation both trade associations and government organizations. Secretariat support for Can-Trace is provided by GS 1 Canada, a non-profit organization which participates in developing, promoting and maintaining collaborative commerce standards and business processes to enhance the efficiency of the supply chain.
