Presentation SummarySpeaker Biography (Omkaram Nalamasu)Omkaram (Om) Nalamasu is currently the Deputy CTO & Vice President for Advanced Technologies at Applied Materials. Dr. Nalamasu leads Applied's research and innovation efforts through the funding/incubation of long term R&D/product development activities, spearheads investments into global academia and consortia, and guides Applied Ventures' investments into start-ups. Prior to this, he was the Vice President of Research and NYSTAR Distinguished Professor of Materials Science and Engineering as well as Professor of Chemistry at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Professor Nalamasu was also the founding director of $20 MM Center for Future Energy Systems and conceived and founded CCNI (Center for Computational Nanotechnology Innovations), a $100 MM program. He has also been the chief technical officer of the New Jersey Nanotechnology Consortium. He has also held several key research and development leadership positions in AT&T Bell Laboratories, Bell Laboratories/Lucent Technologies, and Agere Systems. He has received numerous awards. Dr. Nalamasu received his Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. |
