Speaker Biography
Jane Griffith is the Director of Quality Assurance and Food Safety for Wawa, Inc. She is a member of Council I with the Conference for Food Protection, Product Surety Committee and the NJ Biosecurity Task Force. She has a Master of Education and MBA from Pennsylvania State University. Jane is active in Quality Assurance Executive Committees for National Restaurant Association, International Food Technologist and Daymon Strategic Sourcing.
 
Wawa, Inc is a privately held organization with over 500 stores in five states. Wawa has received several awards including the Outlook Award in 2002 and Convenience Store of the Year in 2003. Their corporate headquarters and beverage plant are located outside of Philadelphia in Wawa, PA.
 
Jane's QA Team is responsible for food safety and product quality throughout the supply chain from vendor selection, certification and management to execution of foodservice programs at store level. She oversees the QA operation of key partners including the WBC, Bakery, NJ Distribution Center, and the Fresh Express - Commissary operations.
Company Profile
A chain of over 540 convenience stores (157 offering gasoline), Wawa stores are located in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. The stores offer a large fresh food service selection, including Wawa brands such as built-to-order hoagies, freshly-brewed coffee, quality dairy products, the "Sizzli" -- a hot breakfast sandwich, Wawa Wraps, Wawa Bakery products, sliced delicatessen meats and cheeses, and fresh produce. Wawa Food Markets carry more than 3,000 items including groceries, tobacco and candy. Wawa offers surcharge-free ATM's and began opening stores with gasoline operations nine years ago in an effort to provide customers with a total one-stop shopping experience.
