and their application for OLED as transparent conductive films
Takeshi Sasaki is Director of Nanomaterials Research Institute, Department of Materials and Chemistry, National institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) since 2015. He worked in several research units in AIST. He was Director of Research Planning Office for Nanotechnology, Materials and Manufacturing Field in AIST in 2010. He has worked in the research of laser processing for nanomaterials including nanoparticles and graphene. He joined AIST after getting the degree of Doctor of Engineering in Kumamoto University in 1994.
Critical business intelligence covering forecasts, players, case studies, opportunities and technology and market assessment
Flexible OLED displays are one of the fastest growing sectors in the display industry. Initially they will appear on plastic substrates and not flexed in use, offering the benefits of being thinner, lighter and more robust because no glass is used. An example is the OLED display on plastic in the Apple watch. The next phase is curved (with products already in the market) and then later flexible displays, which will all result in a market of $30 Billion in 2025. Flexible displays and lighting also require new materials and films, including barrier layers.
These are just part of a bigger opportunity involving flexible, printed and organic electronics which includes photovoltaic technology such as perovskites to new progress with flexible batteries used in wearable technology gadgets and healthcare patches. Emerging technologies also include flexible and printed transistor circuits, actuators and other components.
Transparent conductive film is another related hot sector. The market growth is fuelled primarily by touch devices, but other applications are also slowly growing in importance. This market is currently dominated by ITO on film, but many alternatives are gaining market share. These include silver nanowires, metal mesh, carbon nanotubes, PEDOT, graphene, and more.
What you will learn
All of these sectors comprise of a complex and rapidly changing technology and market landscape, which can make it difficult to identify genuine opportunities for companies involved or wishing to get involved or to see the current state of play.
This forum addresses both the business and technologies involved - providing deep depth including significant market data to allow you to understand these complex landscapes. Attendees will leave with a clear, quantified view of the markets, technology assessment and development roadmaps, key player profiles and their strategy for market adoption, with lessons from success and failures.
The forum is hosted by IDTechEx, which has been studying this topic since 1999, and which is widely cited as a global expert on these topics. Research is based on direct interviews with more than 500 companies, in addition to informal interviews with approximately 1,000 companies each year. IDTechEx analysts are deeply technical (typically PhD level) and commercially experienced, conducting research from bases in Europe, Asia and USA in six languages.
This event is targeted to those involved in growth strategy, business development, research and engineering, innovation management. It is attended by companies involved in material supply, equipment manufacture, component and device manufacture, OEMs and systems integrators.
All Insight Forums will be conducted in English
This forum can be attended on its own or in addition to the Flexible Sensors, Conductive Inks and Stretchable & Textile Electronics forum in the morning, which is complementary in subject matter. A discount is available for booking both.
