eChemion eChemion is an Oregon-based start-up that has developed a process to surface-treat graphitic electrodes for redox flow batteries. The company is a spin-off of Oregon State University and is now completing its Series A round of funding. History -The idea behind eChemion was developed at Oregon State University (OSU) during the founder's PhD studies.
-In 2015, the venture was incorporated into eChemion and has since moved beyond the prototype stage.
-Funding sources came from university VC grants ($150k), and an ongoing series A round, with currently $350k collected out of the $750k target. Additional prospected sources of funding are an SBIR grant and a joint proposal for ARPA-E.
-The company currently consists of 4 employees and 2 consultants.
-Currently in product testing with 4 redox flow battery vendors and 2 carbon electrode component vendors.
