History GSS was founded in 2006 as a spin out from QuinetiQ. The first generation carbon dioxide sensors were launched in 2008, in 2012 the company launched its molecular beam epitaxy facility and in 2013 launched a third generation device. A fourth generation sensor, suitable for breathable air is due to launch in early 2017. New CEO Ralph Weir took over in December 2016 with plans to expand business into markets outside the UK, where the majority of the companies clients are based.
In 2014, GSS GSS secured first place in the regional final of a Shell Springboard Competition, based on the potential offered by the company's products for energy reduction. Gas Sensing Solutions (GSS)
