PARC (Palo Alto Research Center)
PARC (Palo Alto Research Center) PARC has developed non-invasive Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors that can be integrated into EV-grade batteries to monitor temperature and volume variations. History -PARC (Palo Alto Research Center), a Xerox Company is a world-class open innovation research center established in the 70's and incorporated in 2002 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Xerox. Since its inception, PARC has pioneered many technology platforms - from the Ethernet and laser printing to the GUI and ubiquitous computing - and has enabled the creation of many industries.
-Recently, under the ARPA-E AMPED program on next-generation battery management systems, researchers at PARC have developed a low-cost in-situ fiber-optic (FO) sensing system, SENSOR (Smart Embedded Network of Sensors with an Optical Readout) for high-accuracy cell state estimation within electric-vehicle (xEV)-grade Li-ion batteries.
