Active ACTA

Jan 23, 2006
ACTA Informatique has participated in the European GTIS-CAP project. The basic concept was to examine how the Land Parcel Information System developed at European level could be used to develop traceability of agricultural products from geo-localised field to fork... During this project, the interest of the web service technology was confirmed since its enables to perform precise and limited function once the users provide the web services with adequate data (e.g. computation of a geo-identifier, computation of water balance or pest and disease risks).
In a near future, ACTA can imagine that there will be many web services available, proposed by different research or commercial organisations. And it will up to users and ICT companies to use / to integrate theses web services in their commercial offers or not. The difficulty is here that commercial companies will not integrate available web services within their own commercial offers if there is no pressure from their clients. This makes necessary for research or commercial organisations proposing web services, to have a strong promoting actions to push final clients to ask their ICT providers to integrate web services in their offers.
