Speaker Biography (Edgar Barassa)
Edgar is a PhD candidate at the Department of Science and Technology Policy (DPCT)/ University of Campinas (Brazil). His research focuses on new technologies for automotive propulsion (BEV, HEV, PHEV, FCEV) and also cross related topics such as automotive industry strategy, energy security and R&D in renewable energy sources. He graduated in international business at the University of Campinas (2009-2013) and proceeded to the master's degree (2013-2015) at the Science and Technology field. By 2014, he published a paper on patent data analysis regarding electric vehicles and won the prize of best Academic Article in X Latin American Congress of Electric Vehicle. This fostered his moving to Bordeaux (France) in 2016 for an internship at University of Bordeaux. At this university, he learned advanced techniques of technology foresight and improved his tools regarding patent data analysis. He is grateful for his professional and personal trajectory, and truly believes in the transition from conventional cars to electric ones in the near future. In his free time, Edgar loves dancing, working out, cycling and cooking! He also runs a local NGO, called Amparar, that provides assistance to homeless people in Campinas city.
