The presentation will give an overview on the properties and application fields of Wevo's high performance silicone polyurethane and epoxy based thermally conductive materials for e-mobility applications including thermally conductive and insulating potting compounds, gap-fillers, sealants and adhesives.
The presentation will look into the comparison of polyurethane, epoxy and silicone chemistry, their typical properties and their suitability for designing and assembling lithium battery packs and battery modules and applications for super-capacitors and energy storage in general.
Apart from that the presentation will highlight the advantages of thermally conductive materials for the use in electric machines, including potting of stators and rotors. The presentation also covers other e-mobility applications of Wevo's materials such as charging technologies including inductive charging and fast charging and power electronics e.g. on board chargers and automotive electronics in general including sensors and antenna technology.
Andreas finished his chemistry study at Fachhochschule Reutlingen in 1996 with a Diploma in Chemical Engineering and started his career with basic R & D work on polyurethane foams and duroplastic polyurethanes at BASF headquarter in Ludwigshafen until 2000. Until 2007 he worked as an Application Specialist for Flexible and Technical Polyurethane Foams at Elastogran GmbH Lemförde (BASF Group). From 2007- 2010 he was as a Product Manager responsible for the Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants and Elastomers Business Unit at Rampf Giessharze Grafenberg. In 2010 he joined Wevo-Chemie GmbH as Technical Sales Manager where he is today working as Business Development Manager for electronic and electrical applications.
Wevo-Chemie GmbH is a family-owned multi-national specialty chemicals company with headquarter in Ostfildern, Germany and subsidiaries in China, Asia and the United States. We are specialists in casting, bonding and sealing. Wevo develops and produces resin systems, primarily for use in electrical and electronic equipment, and in particular for automotive electronics. Wevo products protect sensitive electronic components against humidity, chemicals, high temperatures, dust and particles. In short: Wevo products ensure safety and efficiency.
Since 75 years Wevo-Chemie produces and develops tailor-made electrically insulating materials based on polyurethane, epoxy and silicone. These are typically used as potting and encapsulation materials, adhesives, sealants, coatings and thermal interface materials to protect electronic and electrical components in automotive, energy, home and engineering applications. Combined with their heat-resistance and their thermal conductivity Wevo's performance materials help to dissipate the heat and thereby contribute to a higher efficiency and a longer product life.
New applications fields cover e-Mobility and energy storage applications as e,g. assembly of battery packs and potting of stators for e-machines and evolving technologies as e.g. sealants and encapsulants for Redox Flow Batteries and e-Textiles.
