It is well established that graphene oxide GO has a stabilizing effect on the Li-S-cathode, and that this effect can be enhanced by doping of the GO. With direct access to GO from our sister-company Abalonyx, we now systematically modify and screen GOs in order to optimize the cathode stabilization. We have already reached 150 cycles with >99.5% cycle efficiency, as confirmed by Fraunhofer IWS in Dresden, Germany. Our short term target is 400 Wh/kg for 500 cycles, to be demonstrated in a real flight together with drone producer Robot Aviation AS, Norway, before summer 2020.
Dr. Ahmet Oguz Tezel is a research scientist at Graphene Batteries AS, Oslo. He conducted his M.Sc and PhD works at the department of Materials Science and Engineering at NTNU with an emphasis on electrochemistry. He also spent a year under the supervision of Petr Novák at the Paul Scherrer Institute. He currently undertakes engineering and design of various battery electrodes for Li-ion and Li-Sulphur batteries.
