5G & Industry 4.0 (Internet of Things Applications USA 2018)

The industry revolution is accelerating. It took almost 100 years to move from the time the 1st mechanical loom was brought to operation until the opening of the 1st assembly line in Cincinnati, which introduced the division of labor and the mass production with the help of electrical energy. And another 100 years to introduce the first PLC that initiated the digitalization of the factories.

But it is going to take only 50 years to come to a connected factory, which called "Industry 4.0". In this presentation we will discuss how I4.0 needs 5G to convert to "Distributed Connected Factory"

Mahsa Nakhjiri serves as the Sr Director Connectivity COE at Flex innovation team based out of Silicon Valley office focusing on 5G and IoT. Prior to Flex, Mahsa served as Dir. Product Management for several wireless companies such as Motorola, Sierra Wireless, Novatel Wireless launching award winning mobile broadband products. Mahsa has MS.C. in EE with focus on antenna array and spatial diversity from Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden.
