Dr Hydra Rodrigues is a Technology Analyst at IDTechEx supporting the company's research and consulting within green technologies. Prior to IDTechEx, she was a scholarship PhD researcher at Heriot-Watt University focusing on carbon dioxide utilization in the oil and gas industry.
Hydra received her PhD in Petroleum Engineering from Heriot-Watt University, Scotland, developing a simulation-based methodology for operational optimization of Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS) in the context of Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) in carbonate reservoirs. Her project integrated crucial aspects for the viability of these projects, namely reactive multi-phase flow in porous media, economic analysis, carbon footprint quantification, and mineral scale (fouling) risk. Hydra holds a BSc magna cum laude in Environmental and Energy Engineering with emphasis in Petroleum Engineering from Federal University of Ceara, Brazil, where she performed research on carbon adsorption from synthesis gas and developed numerical models for decision-making in offshore oilfields development. She has published her work in peer-reviewed and conference papers and presented at several international events.
Hydra is working on green technology research at IDTechEx, covering topics across low-, zero- and negative-carbon technologies. Alongside a team of expert analysts, she performs data-driven market research to help our clients identify business opportunities on sustainable emerging solutions, such as Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS).
