New Flyer is working on a level 4 autonomous city bus. It is preparing for semi-commercial trials to commence in 2023, with paying passengers and a safety driver onboard. It has identified a tight operational design domain, which increases its likelihood of a driverless deployment.

UK's First Full-Size Autonomous Passenger Bus Takes to the Road
The UK's first full-sized autonomous bus will take to the roads of Scotland for the first time this week as live testing begins for project CAVForth. Stagecoach, in partnership with Fusion Processing, Alexander Dennis and Transport Scotland, will be carrying out on-road testing of the autonomous bus over the next two weeks in preparation for the launch of the CAVForth pilot service in late summer.

BYD-ADL Supply 29 Double Decker E-Buses for London
Alexander Dennis Limited and BYD UK jointly supplied 29 BYD ADL Enviro400EV to Abellio London for use on Transport for London route 63 between King's Cross and Honor Oak. The zero emission double deckers have innovative features, aimed at making them an even more attractive, green alternative to the car as London recovers from the pandemic.

London Bus Garage Becomes World's Largest Vehicle-to-Grid Site
A North London bus garage is set to become a 'virtual power station', generating electricity from buses when not in use. Following a transformation to garage nearly 100 new zero-emission electric buses, Northumberland Park is now one of the biggest electric bus facilities in Europe. The project, called Bus2Grid, is believed to be the world's largest vehicle-to-grid trial site.

BAE to Power 600 Buses in Ireland with Electric Propulsion Systems
BAE Systems has been selected by Alexander Dennis Limited and the Republic of Ireland's National Transport Authority to supply up to 600 electric power and propulsion systems for its new fleet of buses in Ireland. The selection includes an initial order for 100 systems.

600 Double Decker Plug in Hybrid Buses for Ireland
Alexander Dennis Limited has signed a framework agreement with the Republic of Ireland's National Transport Authority for the delivery of up to 600 Enviro400ER double deck hybrid buses, capable of running in zero emission mode for at least 2.5 kilometres. The agreement includes an initial firm order for 100 buses.

A report from UITP-Busworld 2017
UITP-Busworld 2017 took place at Kortrijk Expo from the 23rd to the 25th October 2017. Running for over 40 years it is the worlds oldest and largest bus and coach exhibition. This year UITP and Busworld announced the first collaboration of their international bus conference in parallel to the Busworld exhibition.
Analyst Aman Atak was there to learn about new developments and products, as well as attending the conference, in parallel, on the outlook of electric buses in China.
