IDTechEx Graphene & 2D Materials 2019 Award Winner
At the IDTechEx Graphene & 2D Materials conference and exhibition in Berlin on April 10-11, the first graphene award for the Most Significant Advancement In Graphene, CNT, Or 2D Material Commercialisation was presented.
Polymer aerogels get nearer to high volume production
The aerogel market is dominated by silica-based materials; IDTechEx Research calculate this to be over 98% in 2019 by revenue.
Why isn't the aerogel industry booming?
Aerogels are a class of advanced porous materials with a huge amount of potential. However, despite being discovered back in the 1930s, this potential has never turned to a booming commercial reality. Since the turn of the century there has been significant growth, but the industry has once again stalled before greater growth.
13th Edition of Graphene B2B Conference Approaches
Like many advanced materials, there is a significant learning curve to progress promising lab results to real commercial products. This includes a learning experience from the manufacturer, for cost-effective high-volume production, and a learning experience for the end-user, to establish the value and utilisation of this market entry. IDTechEx have been following this market throughout this learning experience, and the 13th edition of their commercially focussed B2B graphene conference, Graphene & 2D Materials, will be held from 10 - 11 April 2019 in Berlin, Germany.
Graphene: do not miss the turning point
We have been following the graphene industry as analysts for the past seven years. The results of our ongoing research can be seen in our report on Graphene, 2D Materials and Carbon Nanotubes: Markets, Technologies and Opportunities 2018-2028. In this time, we have seen the industry grow in maturity.
The Graphene Industry Gathers As The Market Reaches Tipping Point
Graphene and other 2D materials have spent a long period in R&D since the discovery back in the early 21st century. However, through many positive signs from the industry, 2019 is set to become the year that the hype turns to commercial reality.
BASF Polyurethane GmbH - Aerogel Technology
IDTechEx Technology Analyst Dr Richard Collins interviewed Dr Wibke Lölsberg (laboratory manager) from BASF Polurethanes GmbH. BASF Polurethanes GmbH are due to release 2 aerogel based products based on silica and polymer structures.
Cross-industry project to enhance sustainable cobalt mining
BMW Group, BASF SE, Samsung SDI and Samsung Electronics launch cross-industry project to enhance sustainable cobalt mining. As part of a cross-industry initiative, the companies have launched a joint cobalt pilot project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Breakthrough in mass production of flexible plastic displays
Plastic Logic has developed a new mass production-capable technology and manufacturing process in collaboration with the organic electronics specialists from BASF. To demonstrate this breakthrough, Plastic Logic has produced prototypes of two new mass producible 6" display products in 300dpi greyscale and 150dpi colour variants respectively.
BASF invests in Chinese 3D printing specialist Prismlab
Prismlab has developed a patented printing process that is characterized by a very high printing speed, high level of precision and lower printing costs. BASF's venture investment will enable Prismlab to further accelerate its product development and innovation while strengthening its market reach to the global market.
