DURECT Corp to Sell its LACTEL Absorbable Polymer Product Line
DURECT Corporation has signed an agreement to sell its LACTEL Absorbable Polymer product line to Evonik, a global leader in specialty chemicals. Evonik will pay DURECT $15 million in exchange for certain assets and liabilities associated with LACTEL product line.

Evonik was founded in 2007 and is based in Essen, Germany. The company develops specialty chemicals for a variety of industries and applications.
Evonik entered the additive manufacturing space as it represented a logical opportunity for expansion for the materials company. Its increased interest in 3D printing echoes similar moves by other materials companies such as BASF. This profile will focus on its additive manufacturing materials and activities, which reportedly is one of five major growth areas within the company.
