A report from UITP-Busworld 2017
UITP-Busworld 2017 took place at Kortrijk Expo from the 23rd to the 25th October 2017. Running for over 40 years it is the worlds oldest and largest bus and coach exhibition. This year UITP and Busworld announced the first collaboration of their international bus conference in parallel to the Busworld exhibition.
Analyst Aman Atak was there to learn about new developments and products, as well as attending the conference, in parallel, on the outlook of electric buses in China.

Global progress with electric taxis
Taxis are an excellent proving ground for electric vehicle technologies because they are professionally managed, intensively used, standardised in fleets and can have depots dedicated to their needs. That is why they are being used to trial fuel cells and/or lithium ion batteries in, China, Japan, the USA, the UK and elsewhere. Battery swapping is more feasible with standardised, centrally managed taxis than with the confusion of design and management of electric cars.

Here comes China - part five
In 2009, the Chinese Government designated five cities, including Shenzhen, Shanghai and Beijing, as the test ground for using clean-energy vehicles for public transportation and city trucks and cars, and then added seven more urban centres to that list.
