The Fast-Growing Market of Battery for Stationary Storage Applications

Electricity is facing a substantial change, due to the growing amount of renewable energy sources (RES) installed to generate green electricity. Energy storage systems are becoming more important for grid and residential scale applications. In particular, battery storage systems and especially Li-ion batteries, are growing their rate of adoption. Although their purpose in residential and utility scale is quite different, these powerful devices are able to provide a multitude of services and be scaled up to provide a large amount of power and hours of storage.

Although promising, the combination of renewable energies and energy storage systems are strongly affecting the well-established and proven electricity grid systems. On the other hand, a growing amount of RES will be installed in the next year to fulfill climate targets. With the fast-growing energy storage market, IDTechEx has investigated the current state of development of the main countries adopting energy storage systems.

This webinar, presented by IDTechEx Technology Analyst Daniele Gatti, will include:
  • An overview of the electricity grid, and the different services provided by the stationary storage devices
  • A comparison of Li-ion batteries and other storage systems, including but not limited to Redox Flow Battery
  • An overview of the major countries adopting stationary storage system, showing the current state of development.

This webinar shares some of the research from the new IDTechEx report, "Batteries for Stationary Energy Storage 2021-2031".
