Personalized healthcare is a mega trend which will shape the next decade of medical technologies. To make it possible, a faster and better early diagnosis is required. Innovative diagnosis systems focus on point-of-care testing instead of long visits at the hospital or expensive analysis in a laboratory. The lecture puts emphasis on new photonic sensor systems in this field. Possible medical applications are orthosis systems for preventive measures or the mobile testing of smallest blood sample quantities within seconds.

Thomas Ruf is Director Sales Solution at First Sensor AG and a senior expert for sensor technology and embedded systems. Graduated in electrical engineering, he has worked exclusively in high-technology sectors for more than 20 years with a strong focus on international sales and marketing. Thomas has extensive experience in electronic engineering and manufacturing services (E²MS) concentrating on semiconductor-based sensors for industrial, medical and automotive target markets.
