Flexible Electronics Components & Enabling Materials

June 5 / Afternoon

This forum will focus on the current and emerging flexible electronic components and the enabling materials and flexible films. On these topics, it will provide critical business intelligence covering: forecasts, players, case studies, opportunities and technology and market assessment.

Foldable OLED displays have now finally become commercial, after manufacturers transitioned from glass to rigid plastic to flexible plastic substrates. Other flexible display technologies are also emerging including quantum dot displays. These have been enabled by a range of materials and manufacturing processes, that will be covered in depth in this forum.

Additionally, flexible sensors are a key growth area, with many different sensor types now available in new form factors including being over large areas, flexible and even stretchable. Often these sensors do not replace their conventional bulky counterpart, but create new markets thanks to the new form factor capabilities. In this forum, we cover the different technology options, their current progress from both a technology and market development viewpoint, market size and applications.

After assessing these components, including hybrid electronics, this forum then assesses key material types that are enabling flexible electronics, including conductive inks, flexible barrier films, flexible transparent conductive films and flexible substrates.

All of these sectors comprise of a complex and rapidly changing technology and market landscape, which can make it difficult to identify genuine opportunities for companies involved or wishing to get involved or to see the current state of play. This forum addresses both the business and technologies involved - providing deep depth, including significant market data to allow you to understand these complex landscapes. Attendees will leave with a clear, quantified view of the markets, technology assessment and development roadmaps, key players and opportunities.

The forum is hosted by IDTechEx, which is widely cited as a global expert on these topics. Research is based on direct interviews with companies, in addition to attendance of conferences and tradeshows around the world. IDTechEx analysts are deeply technical (typically PhD level) and commercially experienced, conducting research from bases in Europe, Asia and USA in eight languages. This event is targeted to those involved in growth strategy, business development, research and engineering, innovation management. It is attended by companies involved in material supply, equipment manufacture, component and device manufacture, OEMs and systems integrators.

Guest Speaker:
Flexible Electronics Components for Printed Lithium Batteries

  • Lithium batteries have been mass-produced for many years. Lately, a few attempts have been made to fabricate a lithium battery using printing technology and great advances were achieved. However, there has been no procedures or demonstrations of a complete printed lithium battery. In this presentation, the author tries to suggest the requirement for materials that may be necessary in the development of printed lithium batteries.
