Medical Wearables For Improved Outcomes in Diabetes
Santa Clara Convention Center, CA, USA
Room details: TBA
Approximately 415 million people around the world have diabetes and an estimated 50% of these patients are not in control of their disease. Annual spending on diabetes-related healthcare is $673 billion dollars. Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) has helped people with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes to manage their disease more effectively. CGM technology makes it easier for T1 and T2 patients, their HCPs and caregivers to gain deeper insights into daily glucose fluctuations, thereby increasing quality of life and reducing complications. We have seen tremendous improvements in sensor performance, duration and integration capabilities with insulin pump over the last few years. This presentation will talk about current solutions in the diabetes healthcare market and future trends. An overview of glucose sensor technology will also be covered, how it works as a standalone device, as well as with insulin pumps. We will also discuss recent advances in the CGM field and collaborations of medical device companies with IT to further enhance patient outcomes.
