The remainder of the presentation will cover large-scale titanium additive manufacturing including F-35 production applications, challenges to implementation, and other aerospace applications. Speaker Biography (Brian Rosenberger)Mr. Rosenberger has been involved in the research and development of advanced manufacturing materials and processes since 1997 when he founded a research team and created a laboratory to investigate additive manufacturing processes for aircraft structure at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company. The initial focus was on laser/powder deposition of titanium, and the team made many breakthroughs in the areas of freeform deposition and closed-loop process control. This team has since grown and branched out into many areas of materials and manufacturing research...all focused on processes which minimize tooling and touch labor. As a subject matter expert within Lockheed Martin Corporation, Mr. Rosenberger is now leading efforts to transition electron beam Direct Manufacturing into production for F-35 as well as within other Lockheed Martin business areas. Mr. Rosenberger has worked in the aerospace industry for 31 years. He has considerable experience in the aircraft conceptual design arena and has served as principal investigator and program manager for a variety of research and development projects. Mr. Rosenberger also has expertise and experience in integrating advanced technologies into the supply chain, especially with international production partners.
