Presentation SummaryxGnP® graphene nanoplatelets manufactured by XG Sciences can be functionalized and dispersed in different resin systems for multi-functional benefits of enhanced mechanical, thermal, and other properties. Ford is partnering with XG Sciences to develop xGnP composites and foams for various automotive applications consistent with their sustainability and light weighting goals. An example is the investigation of functionalized xGnP for enhanced dispersion in polyurethane for improved mechanical strength and thermal stability. We will discuss xGnP functionalization strategies and the corresponding measurements of physical, mechanical and thermal properties. This will be the basis for the value proposition of xGnP in commercial automotive applications compared to current solutions.
