In this talk, I will discuss the specifications of a display device for virtual and augmented reality and introduce Sony's recent technologies potentially contribute to this field, such as ultra-short throw 4K projectors, LD portable projectors, micro LED tiling displays, hologram waveguide AR eyeglass, ultra high resolution micro-OLED.
Kazumasa Nomoto received Ph.D. degrees in physics from Keio University, Japan in 2000. In 1991, he joined Sony Corporation. His research activities has been concerned quantum dot, semiconductor nonvolatile memory,TFTs,flexible e-Papers and OLED displays. From 1998 to 1999, he was a visiting scholar at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA. He is currently Senior Distinguished Engineer / Chief UI Device Researcher in UI Device Development Division, Device & Material R&D Group in Sony, Japan.
