Smart Agriculture needs data to help farmers increase yield. ON Semiconductor has been developing a family of easy to deploy low cost, battery-free, wireless sensors for a variety of industries. Our new generation of tags includes the ability to attach a variety of sensors, including soil moisture detection. Using a drone, we are able to fly over the tag to collect granular data on the field moisture content. It is also possible to attach other sensors to the tag, such as nitrogen detectors to provide additional information about the soil conditions. This represents an opportunity to help farmers increase their understanding of the soil conditions in their field easily and with minimal investment. Temperature tags can monitor individual cask temperatures in a warehouse to identify potential hot or cold spots in the building that could impact aging, or fluid level and temperature tags can monitor hydroponic facilities to optimize growing conditions. We can assist farmers capture data to help them increase their yields.
