Energy storage is the foundation for the transition to a carbon-free future. Accelerating the transition depends on developing high performance batteries that are safer, cheaper, and cleaner than what exists today. Getting all three has been a challenge. Until now. This session will outline the limitations of existing battery technologies and introduce a new type of battery based on a new zinc technology that offers the energy of Li-ion but at a cost more like lead-acid and safer than both.
Michael Burz is President/Co-Founder of EnZinc, a green battery startup accelerating worldwide decarbonization. He leads a team that is developing a revolutionary battery based on zinc technology leveraging scientific discoveries made by the US Naval Research Laboratory. Michael has more than 35 years' experience in the aerospace (cruise missiles at GD), automotive (race cars at Nissan), and software industries (business strategy/account management at CSC for BAE Systems, United Technologies, Lockheed Martin). He has a BS in Aeronautical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and an MS in Aerospace Engineering from San Diego State University.
EnZinc is an engineering technology company focused on developing advanced high performance green batteries to power a carbon-free world. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, the company applies aerospace and automotive engineering practices to energy storage development. For more information visit our website
