Arcimoto President and Founder Mark Frohnmayer discusses the development history of the everyday electric Fun Utility Vehicle (FUV), including initial inspiration, eight generations of iterative vehicle development, pivotal choices made, and challenges surmounted on the journey to bring this unique form-factor three-wheeled electric motorcycle into the global marketplace, building a new vehicle manufacturing company from the ground up in the process.
Mark graduated from UC Berkeley in 1996 with a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. After 11 years leading advanced technology projects in the game development industry and the sale of his first startup, GarageGames, he turned his energy toward solving the worldwide problem of sustainable transportation. He has led the Arcimoto team from startup in 2007, through eight generations of prototype vehicles and a Nasdaq-listed Regulation A IPO, to a public electric vehicle manufacturing company that has delivered customer vehicles and is on the cusp of nationwide retail production.
Arcimoto was founded in 2007 with the mission to build products that catalyze the shift to a sustainable transportation system. The Arcimoto name means "Future I Drive" and it is our aspiration: to devise new technologies and patterns of mobility that together raise the bar for environmental efficiency, footprint and affordability. The Fun Utility Vehicle (FUV) is the first of those products, an all-electric three-wheeled vehicle that combines the thrill of a motorcycle with the daily utility associated with the traditional car, all at an affordable price.
