In this session Mirko will present where the concept of Edge Compute originates from (spoiler alert: it's not new) and the main motivation behind it. Additionally he will discuss what the main features and dominant use-cases for Edge Compute are. Lastly he will give a sneak peek at what Cisco is doing to foster the adoption of Edge Compute.
Speaker Biography
Mirko Graebel is the Senior Manager, Technical Marketing for Cisco IoT. In this role, he works with third parties to extend Cisco's capabilities with partners to build an open ecosystem. Mirko joined Cisco in 2008 and since then has held a number of senior technical roles including Technical Marketing Engineer in the Enterprise Routing Business Unit. Prior to that he joined the Customer Proof of Concept (CPOC) lab in London where he built Enterprise and Service Provider Networks with a focus on Routing & Switching and Compute. Mirko is a Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert in Routing & Switching (CCIE-RS).
