Speaker Biography
Dr. Jim Burns is the Senior Vice President and Chief Scientist at TransPower. He is a leading expert in automotive mechatronics. Dr. Burns has been a part of lighter, faster, and more efficient transportation technologies for more than 30 years at the intersection of academia, defense, and the commercial industry. Dr. Burns earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware in and his honors BS in multi-disciplinary Engineering Science at the Pennsylvania State University.

TransPower provides zero-emission transportation solutions for heavy-duty trucks and other large vehicles. TransPower's ElecTruck™ product, an integrated electric drive system that utilizes energy supplied by on-board batteries, was designed with building blocks that allow flexibility to adapt and optimize for many vehicle applications. The firm is teamed with major truck OEMs, including Kalmar, Peterbilt and Meritor, towards the end of production of zero emission trucks which meet market needs.
