3D printing is opening new frontiers in regenerative medicine, particularly in the development of next generation of musculoskeletal treatment strategies via tissue engineering approach. This presentation addresses novel 3D printing techniques for tissue engineering of implants for early stage treatment of orthopaedic defects.
Speaker Biography (Yaser Shanjani)
Yaser Shanjani is currently a research engineer at Align Technology. Yaser has conducted his postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Stanford University after completing his Ph.D. and postdoctoral research at the University of Waterloo. With a background in mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering, his research was focused on additive manufacturing technologies for biomedical applications, particularly musculoskeletal tissue engineering. Yaser has developed three variations of novel additive manufacturing techniques and 3D bioprinting systems, and contributed to several patents, journal papers, conference proceedings, and book chapters in the field of additive manufacturing.
