Sion Power will present breakthrough technology leading to the highest combination of specific energy and energy density exceeding 650 Wh/kg and 1400 Wh/L. In the core of this transformational energy storage solution is a protected metallic lithium anode with several levels of physical and chemical protection, a product of Sion Power's technical collaboration with BASF. Sion Power's Licerion® high energy batteries have a potential to be enabling technology for a new era of electrified mobility including ground and maritime electric vehicles and a wide spectra of electric aircraft: surveillance, communication and delivery drones, passenger aircraft and vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft for urban air transportation. The presentation will discuss Sion Power-BASF technology approaches and the current state-of-energy density, cycle life, rate capability, low-temperature performance, and thermal stability of Licerion batteries.
Speaker Biography (Yuriy Mikhaylik)
Dr. Yuriy Mikhaylik is Technical Fellow and Senior Director of Materials Development at Sion Power. Dr. Mikhaylik has over 30 years experience in research and development of lithium batteries and is a recognized expert in Li-rechargeable battery chemistry. Dr. Mikhaylik holds over 125 U.S. and foreign patents and patent applications. Prior to joining Sion Power Mikhaylik held various management and research positions at the Ukrainian National Academy of Science, Kiev, Ukraine where he was a principal investigator on programs relating to lithium primary and rechargeable batteries for Ukrainian and Russian National Space Agency. Mikhaylik received his Masters of Science in Chemistry and Ph.D. in Electrochemistry from Moscow State University, Moscow, Russia.
