ABAX Sensing are a stealth mode start-up developing FMCW lidar modules. IDTechEx interviewed Dr Hongquan Jiang in April 2019. Jiang is is a Partner at Robert Bosch Venture Capital (RBVC) and a Board Member of ABAX Sensing, and he is based in Germany. In 2018, Robert Bosch announced their interest in solid-state lidar and an investment in ABAX.

Bosch extends the service life of electric vehicle batteries
Stress makes cells age faster. Something that geneticists have long since demonstrated for the human body is also true for electric-vehicle battery cells. The older the batteries get, the lower their performance and capacity, and the shorter the range of the vehicle. To help batteries last longer, Bosch is developing new cloud services that supplement the individual vehicles' battery-management systems.

Highlights from VDI's 15th Commercial Vehicles Conference
The Commercial Vehicles International Conference is a biennial event arranged by the Association of German Engineers (VDI). The 15th iteration of this conference was held at the Kongresshaus in Baden-Baden, Germany on the 4th and 5th of June 2019. The conference featured a total of 34 speeches and keynotes, with sessions on Electrification; Vehicle Concepts; Automated Driving; Connectivity; Safety and Smart Logistics.
Companies represented at the conference included: Daimler, MAN, Schaeffler, ZF, WABCO, Robert Bosch, Magna, FlixBus, AVL and Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe.

Bosch is now assuming full control of EM-motive, one of Europe's most successful manufacturers of electric motors. Bosch and Daimler set up EM-motive GmbH as a fifty-fifty joint venture in 2011. Since then, it has manufactured some 450,000 electric motors.
