Flat Panel X-Ray Detectors Based On Organometallic Perovskites

Organometallic perovskites revealed promising performance as direct X-ray converters in flat panel X-ray detectors. Here we present an effortless powder route which enables cost effective fabrication of microcrystalline methylammonium lead iodide (MAPI) layers. The direct integration of a soft-sintered microcrystalline MAPI on top of an a-Si TFT backplane with 98µm pixel pitch, resulted in a first perovskite flat panel digital X-Ray detector prototype. X-ray images show a promising resolution of 4-5lp/mm.
Dr. Ing. Sandro Francesco Tedde is a senior key expert research scientist responsible for the organic photodetectors (OPD) technology at Siemens Healthineers' Technology Center with project management functions. Main focus of his work is the integration of organic and hybrid photodetectors in different imaging systems in particular for medical X-ray detectors. Dr. Tedde has >40 publications in scientific journals and >50 patent applications in the field of organic and hybrid electronics.
