Half-day Insight Forum 4

The Internet of Things and RFID

Forum will be conducted in English

Covering the technology and market landscape for the Internet of Things (IoT) and RFID. Critical business intelligence covering forecasts, players, technology trends and case studies.

More things are becoming connected across a wide spectrum, from simple RFID tags on objects that wireless communicate their identification to wireless sensor nodes connected to the internet in real time. There are many enabling technologies and standards and each are different points of maturity, size and profitability. They often target different markets. Some are now in rapid growth, such as RFID, while others are entering a period of consolidation, such as IP based wireless sensor nodes.

What will you learn?

This session will provide you with detailed knowledge of the complex IoT and RFID landscapes. Tackling first the IoT market for internet connected wireless sensors, this session will cover the business and technology drivers and challenges facing IoT. It will address who are going to be the big spenders on IoT in the short term, and who are not. It will also look at some of the opportunities that need to be addressed and what is being done to address them so far, from security to energy harvesting for self powered nodes. The presentation will provide an assessment of the potential market size based on new data from IDTechEx Research and provide you with a fresh perspective on your opportunities amidst the frenzy.

In addition, the second part of this forum session will focus on RFID, a segment of IoT. In 2015 more than 8 billion RFID tags were sold, up from just under 7 billion tags in 2014. Tag cost is reducing with volume but also with new innovations such as antenna manufacture and chip placement. This session provides the complete picture of the RFID industry, including NFC to UHF RFID. IDTechEx has been tracking this areas for over 15 years and this presentation will provide detailed analysis of where RFID is being used, why and emerging large segments. RFID technology innovations and global trends will be covered, in addition to player market shares and future opportunities.

Why IDTechEx?

The forum is hosted by IDTechEx, which has been studying this topic since 1999, and which is widely cited as a global expert on these topics. Research is based on direct interviews with more than 500 companies, in addition to informal interviews. IDTechEx analysts are deeply technical (typically PhD level) and commercially experienced, conducting research from bases in Europe, Asia and USA in six languages.

This event is targeted to those involved in growth strategy, business development, research and engineering, innovation management. It is attended by companies involved in component and device manufacture, OEMs, software, systems integrators and companies supplying appropriate materials and equipment or providing related services.

All Insight Forums will be conducted in English

Please see registration form for special forum packages. If your colleagues would like to attend, company discounts are available - please contact Corinne Jennings, c.jennings@IDTechEx.com for details.
