One of the limiting factors for wide industrial adoption of virtual reality is a lack of technology of touch. Valkyrie Industries is solving this problem by developing a haptic wearable, that enables natural manipulation of virtual objects and provides sensations of their weight and textures. We are using combination of textiles, smart materials, tracking and sensing technology, wireless communication, accurate physical models and machine learning algorithms to deliver full solution to VR adopters over the broad range of fields. The presentation will go into details of our approach in both garment and technology development and will outline commercial applications.
Ivan Isakov is a co-founder and CTO of Valkyrie Industries. He has received MSc from St. Petersburg State University and PhD from University College London in nanotechnology and material science. After working as a postdoc at Imperial College London, he co-founded a wearable haptics company Valkyrie Industries. During his career, Ivan has been developing new scientific ideas into products, was involved in the knowledge transfer from university laboratories to industrial production with several SMEs and technology consulting for large aerospace company. In additionl to his company, Ivan is running an interdisciplinary infotainment salon "Seven of clubs" in London.
