'Thin Ply' Fibre Composite Materials In Ultra-Lightweight Structure and Electric Motors

The design of high performance electric vehicles, either ground transport, marine or flying, is moving ahead at a rapid pace. North Thin Ply Technology produces fibre composite materials and parts that offer improved performance to these vehicles. Using some recent successful projects as examples, this talk will explore how 'thin ply' materials can reduce structural weight and increase the efficiency and output of electric motors.
Speaker Biography (Wayne Smith)
Wayne has worked in materials testing and product development at NorthTPTs Swiss facility since 2012. He has been responsible for projects in motorsport, marine, aerospace and sports equipment.
Prior to his involvement with NTPT, Wayne was involved in the design and construction of composite yachts for 25 years. His experience includes materials development and structural design for the successful Americas Cup yachts of Team New Zealand (1995 and 2000). Wayne also headed up R&D for Southern Spars in New Zealand for four years.
Waynes current focus is in the application of 'thin ply' materials and processing technology to electrical motor generators.
