Software and sensors have a long history and evolution: In the beginning, software simply read out and possibly converted data from a sensor. Next, software was able to evaluate data from multiple sensors and nowadays, it can make local decision and learn, enabling artificial intelligence (AI) on the edge. Until now users had to manually input data into the devices to receive personalized results. Software synthesis and AI have the power to make products smarter and to automatically adapt to each individual users.

MEMS sensors, as the interface to the world, will always play a key role but software has become an integral part of the overall system to generate value for the user.

With integrated software, sensors are turning into personal and adaptive systems with embedded intelligence to improve users' well-being and lifestyle.

In his keynote, Francois Beauchaud, Principal Engineer - Business Development at Bosch Sensortec, will illustrate the role of software and AI for MEMS sensors with specific examples.

Francois Beauchaud is based in Sunnyvale, California in the Business Development team at Bosch Sensortec where he actively works on the topic of Internet of Things and on new product initiatives. From 2010 to 2014, he held the position of Senior Field Applications Engineer North America at Bosch Sensortec. Previously, he worked as Applications Engineer for Bosch Sensortec in Germany from 2008 to 2010. He graduated with a Masters Degree in Electronic Engineering from the Institut des Sciences Appliquees (INSA) of Lyon, France in 2007. While pursuing his Engineering Diploma, Francois Beauchaud obtained a Master Degree in Microelectronics from the University Claude Bernard of Lyon.
